Essbase ASO and MDX

Essbase ASO (Aggregate Storage Option) provides a different, more highly scalable way to organize your data for fast load, aggregate and retrieval. It also requires the use of MDX as the calculation language to express anything more complex than straight aggregation. Whether you're starting from scratch or converting from existing cubes, there's a new mental model to employ.

If you are starting with classic block-storage cubes, you must convert the outline formulas and calc scripts from the block-storage model into appropriate MDX calculations. This employs a new way of thinking about your information model as well as a new language to master. Apply our experience to accelerate your conversion and deployment, and provide you and your staff with the mentoring necessary to maintain and develop new cubes.
